Comment:  Hi.  My Grandmother was an Immigrant to the US in 1922.  Her home was in Mala Frankova, Slovakia. Her (Maiden) name was: Katarina Sleboda.  She was born abt. 1902.  She had a twin sister that she left back home and lost contact with her. She also had a brother. I would like help finding any information at all about her at all - even her first

name would be great. I have no idea where to look.  ALSO: My Grandfather was an Immigrant (Slovak) to the US sometime between 1900-1924.  He was born abt. 1895-1907.

Don't know the village he's from.  His name in back home was: Jon (sounds like: "Yawn") Hrivnaceck (sounds like Hrriv - nah - jik). I do not know if the spelling of either name is

correct.  When he came to America, he changed his last name to: Lesnick, and his first name to: Jon. He settled in New Jersey, where he met my Grandmother.  They were married

My great-grandfather Peter Tvrdosinsky, came to America around 1910 and married Maria/Mary Oravec. They setteled in the Detroit Michiagn area. This was Maria's second marriage, the first was to

Stephen Hargas who died in Slovakia/Hungary. Maria's first marriage produced 2 children Mary and Stephen, and her second marriage produced 3 children, Paul, Joseph and Ethal.

Peter died around 1920 and Maria married for the 3rd time to John Letko (no children). I appear to be the last Tordosinsky (at least in the U.S.) and I'm desperately looking for a

possible connection to Slovakia/Hungary.

Comment:  I am searching for the birth father of my grandmother. She was born on May 1, 1898.  Her mother, Ann, married a kind man named Michael Komora who raised my

grandmother as his own.  Ann and Michael later had several children of their own.  In the very early 1900's (perhaps 1903) they came to the United States and began their new lives

in Uniontown Pennsylvania.  My grandmother, Cecilia Emma Komora later met and married Stephen Strauch in 1918. They had 6 children. The entire Strauch family moved to

Detroit Michigan in the 1940's.  My grandmother was in her 70's when a family member (Mary Karaffa) informed her that Michael Komora was not her birth father. This has been

a mystery for our family and we would be blessed to uncover verifiable information about her birth father.  Blessings and thank you.

Comment: I am looking for Berente family in USA whose grandparents came from Licze/Licince/ in Slovakia.  There were two brothers Jozef and Milos/Mihol/ and sister Maria.

Jozef came back to Slovakia, but Milos and Maria had got married and stayed there.  Originally they went to Cleveland, but I think they move probably somewhere in Washington

and California. Milos got married to a Jewish woman apparently.

Comment:  Looking for Gulas family from Solotvina.  My grandfather Mike {Michal} and his sister Zuza were born in Solotvina in 1902 & 1903/4 respectively. Their parents

were Mary Hritz {Maria hricko on a 1920 document from Zuza} and Stephan Gulas - who drowned in Holyoke, MA in 1928.  Mary Hritz Gulas lived somewhere in Czechoslovakia until she died sometime in the early 1960. Mike, Zuza & older brother George {born in Holyoke, MA} all came to America & stayed.  I know that in Aug of 1920 - from Mike's

passport that they lived in Vys Rybnica.  Where do I begin looking??  The spellings of the 'Gulas' surname vary!!!

Comment:  Thank you for your letter Tom. I found the site last night and Maia had a new message for me and I was able to write her. Was hoping some one could help us trace the Golian (Could be spelled many different ways ) side of the family. As best we can tell, Grandfather, Andrew Golian was born about 1873-1874 in the old Austria-Hungary area.

He married Dorotha Lalik-Tusim.  Her maiden name was Michalikova.  Grandmother Dora was born in 1852, she was much older than Grandfather Golian.  She was first married to

Jan Lalik-Tusim.  When he died, she married Grandfather Golian.  Grandmother and her first husband had several children.  Pauline, Katherine, Madeline, and Joseph.  We have

found some of Joseph's Grandchildren.  They claim they know nothing about Grandfather Golian.or his family.  They say he was possibly illegitimate. They are not even sure

Grandfather Golian and "Dora" were ever married.  No matter what the story is, we still want to find his family, if possible.  He and Grandmother had 3 sons, Imirs (Also spelled

many ways ) Martin (My husbands father, and Andrew. Grandmother Dora, and Imirs , Age 13, Martin, age 10, and Andrew, age 7, came to America in July 1911, under the name

of GOLJAN, on the Ellis Island site.  Have not found Grandfather Golian on that site, but he may have came over with a different spelling of his name. An old census says he came

in 1902 to Pennsylvania.  Grandmother and boys joined him there.  They left there sometime beween 1911 and 1914, and came to Missouri.  We have been told that Grandmother

Dora was born and raised in the Zanemecka, Hrinova, Slovakia Area, and lived there until she came to America.  I have tried to find the Catholic Church there or someone who

could check the Church records.  No one seems to be able to give me any information on the Church. The Golian's were Roman Catholic. Gandfather Andrew and Dora are buried

here in Missouri at the Catholic Cemetery. When they were in Pennsylvania, they worked at some coal mines there. Have not been able to find which one.When they came to

Missouri, they worked to help build a new cement plant at Ilasco, Mo. about 3-4 miles South of Hannibal, Mo.  Grandfather Golian was killed there in Jan. 1924 in an accident.

Age about 50, his obiturary says. Ilasco,  Mo. became a booming town during those early years, with many immigrants from everywhere, but all is gone now, except for a few

houses, etc. The Cement plant is still in operation. If any one anywhere can help us with the Golian family,it would be so greatly appreciated. We have been in contact with so many,

I am French and I already know that my grandparents were both born in Medzibrod (East-Center of Slovakia).  I think that they left their native country before 1936 since my father (Michel) and one of his brother (Jean) were both born in France. Their eldest brother (Josef) was born in Medzibrod on August 1928 the 26th. My granparents got

married in the same town on September 1927, the 25th.  I would like to join cousins, because I believe they still are some there. If you live not far away from Medzibrod and are
