I am looking for my relatives living in the USA.

My grandfather MUDr. JÁN SLABEJ (born 5.2.1866 Vrbický Hušták - died 18.11.1945 Bratislava) had 3 brothers: Július Bohumil (b. 2.1.1869), Gustáv Adolf (b.7.9.1871) and Bohumír Miroslav (b. 7.11.1873).  Brothers GUSTAV Adolf and BOHUMIR Miroslav engaged on 12.3.1900 the sisters Olga and Viera VIEST (the daughters of prof. Viest from Myjava). Later they married them (GUSTAV Adolf with Olga and BOHUMIR Miroslav with Viera). Both sisters died in the USA : OLGA b. 11.6.1879 - d. 29.12.1948 in New York, VIERA b. 24.5.1881 - d. 6.8.1969 in Bridgeport, CT. Viera was a furrier.  According Ellis Island records in 1906 came to the USA: GUSTAV SLABEJ (age on arrival 34 years) with his wife Olga (age on arrival: 25 years) and two children (Gustav and Olga - age on arrival: 2 years and 3 years).  I am also looking for relatives of Mrs. Božena Slabey Rouček. She was wife of prof. Rouček, a well-known writer, university professor. I think they lived in Bridgeport, Connecticut.  Can anybody help me?

I would appreciate much any information on SLABEJ/SLABEY - my relatives.  Marián Slabej,  Bratislava, Slovakia  e: mail: slabej@uco.sk

Am trying to track down my ancestors from Hungary/Slovakia. Acc. to a copy of my grandfather's baptismal certificate, his parents were Jan (Joannes) Michalek Tichy and Maria

Magat. My grandfather, Adolf, was evidently born in Predmier, district Bytca. His parents' address on the certificate is listed as Marsova (Rasov). Joannes (John) had two

daughters - Leona and Albina - with Maria, but then emigrated to the US in 1901, settling in Butler, Pennsylvania and later changing his name to John Tishey. He's shown in the

1910 US Federal Census named John Thishi with a 2nd wife, Trescha, and sons Albert, Thomas, Frank and Anthony, then in the 1920 census as John Tishey with sons Thomas,

Frank and daughter Agnes. My grandfather, Adolf, changed his name to Albert and also settled in Butler, PA. According to a copy of their marriage certificate, Joannes and Maria

were married 27 Apr 1890 in Rasso. According to birth/baptismal certificates, Leona was born 25 Apr 1891 and Albina was born 20 Apr 1895. Any leads on my great grandparents would be very helpful. Thank you.

Comment:  I am looking for my ancestors in the Czech / Slovak area. Joseph Madr was born February 29, 1880 and his father's name was Cyril. His declaration papers indicate

he was born in Bohne Lawkack, Czecho-Slovia Austria (I'm guessing the city is really Bohuslavky).  His last foreign residence was Ostrowa, Austria (Ostrava?). Rumor has it that

he left Europe, running from the law because he was a bootlegger. He arrived in Baltimore, MD on the 14th day of May 1910.  His wife, Aloise ("Alice") Jakes was born in

Nzova, Austria (Bzova???) and was born October 30, 1882.  Both lived out their lives in Buffalo, NY.

Anyone with information on my family or suggestions on finding them in the Czech / Slovak area would be very much appreciated. The Czech Republic's phone site is listing

the name MADR and JAKES in city of Praha's phone book.

Comment:  I am searching for ancestors from Slovakia, my grandparents Frank Dalecky and Josephine Chromy (Cherny) who had a daughter Josephine Dalecky(my grandmother).

They lived in the US and I cannot find records of them coming here. Also my paternal grandmother Helene Ranostaj, Onotry Ranostaj(her brother) his children Yanko,

Maris/Maria, Mirka, her sister Zuzanna Ranostaj Diesko, her son Michael they stayed in Slovakia. Their parents John Ranostaj and Mary Barriet and Michael Ranostaj and Anna

Pranet, also stayed in Slovakia. There are only a few Ranostajs in the whole of Slovakia. Also if you add an ova at the end of the name for a woman does that mean something,

like in Russia or Norway. Thank you for any thoughts.
